Interested in our services for your home or apartment building?
Our team has experience working for decades on all styles of residential and commercial buildings. We can make you more comfortable and energy efficienct today.
What is a Home Performance Energy Assessment?
First, using a blower door, we test the air barrier of your home by measuring the air infiltration. Second, we will conduct a Combustion Safety Test to ensure you are safe. Both tests are completed before any work starts and also after we complete our work.
What is a Combustion Safety Test?
This tests gas appliances to ensure they do not introduce exhaust and leak harmful and dangerous carbon monoxide into your home.
What about insulation?
Insulation delays the time it takes for energy to leave your home. Your home is a six sided box. All six sides of the box should be wrapped in warm blanket of insulation. Air sealing stops the air and energy from moving out of your house. Together air sealing and insulation stop heating and cooling from leaving your home. Insulation comes after air sealing.
Why air seal now?
It is possible to add insulation and not receive any energy savings because air can bypass right through the insulation. The air is still moving in and out of your home, taking the energy with it. In fact, adding insulation without air sealing can be detrimental to building integrity. Air sealing is the work of finding and filling many of the hidden cracks and gaps in your home.
We Solve Common Problems:
- High Energy Bills
- Drafts
- Mold/Mildew
- Window Condensation

What actually is Air sealing?
Air sealing is the work of filling hidden gaps, cracks and holes in the air barrier between the interior and exterior of your home.
Should I insulate my house before air sealing it?
No, insulation is only a heat barrier—it doesn’t block the flow of air. You spend a lot of money to heat and cool your house, but holes in the air barrier let this treated air escape, no matter how much insulation you have. Air sealing will increase the air barrier in your home, keeping more of your heated or air conditioned air where you want it, all for less than the cost of insulating.
But doesn’t a home have to breathe?
Yes, it does when components get wet. Most homes have plenty of fresh air, most often way more than is needed. In the industry, we say, “Build tight and ventilate right.” If we make the home “too tight” we can incorporate suitable ventilation strategies to make the house perform the way it should keeping you healthy and your building sound.
What if my home it too tight?
We have found most homes in need of air barrier repair. If your air barrier is good, we can usually still find other ways to reduce your energy consumption, maintaining our guarantee of a 12% return on your investment per year every year. We have air sealed thousands of homes and found only a handful that we could not improve.
What is a Home Performance Test?
First, using a blower door, we test the air barrier of your home by measuring the air infiltration. Second, we conduct a Combustion Safety Test to make sure you are safe from combustion appliances. It is a thorough top to bottom exploration of the energy consuming characteristics of your home.
What is a Combustion Safety Test?
This tests gas appliances to make sure they do not introduce exhaust and leak harmful and dangerous carbon monoxide into your home.
Where are these leaks in the air barrier and how do you find them?
Having air sealed thousands of homes; we know the “usual culprits” and can easily locate some common holes. Most buildings leak where they meet foundation, anywhere a wire or pipe leaves the air barrier, under the insulation in the attic, and around bathtubs, can lights, chimneys, attic doors, stairways and dropped soffit. We also use a variety of highly technical instruments including an infrared camera, blower door, and a smoke stick to locate specific leaks in your home.
Does my home have holes in it?
Yes, every building has hidden holes in the air barrier that we can repair.
Do you seal around windows, doors and electrical outlets?
Usually not. We go after the largest holes first to give you the best value for your money. Our goal is to reduce the overall air infiltration as much as possible in one day, so we do not always focus on the smaller leaks, unless they are of a specific comfort concern.

My home is new. Can you make it better?
Yes, most homes–even energy star homes–can be made more energy efficient.
Can I see what you have done?
Not easily. Almost all the work is difficult to get to, but if you ask, we can show you some of the places we have repaired.
Can I do the work myself?
You could, but it would take you weeks to learn how to do the work properly, and cost you more money to invest in the proper equipment than we charge to air seal.
