We would like to share some information regarding the benefits of Enclosure Commissioning and how Accurate-Airtight can support your upcoming projects.

Enclosure Commissioning (BECx) is a systematic quality assurance process ensuring a building’s exterior (walls, roof, windows, foundation) are designed and built to meet energy efficiency, durability, and occupant comfort requirements by verifying it performs as intended through early design review, site inspections, and performance testing (like air/water leakage tests) to prevent costly issues and improve long-term savings

Team reviewing building

Enclosure commissioning is a process-driven review of a building’s enclosure from concept through implementation. By involving a building envelope commissioning agent during the Design Phase, teams can discuss assemblies and construction processes to ensure an air and watertight building. This collaboration helps determine necessary testing for Mockup and Construction Phases.  Enclosure commissioning ensures manufacturer specifications are followed and can identify potential material application or compatibility issues.

During the Construction Phase, onsite reviews help identify installations that do not meet specifications or were not clearly defined in the Design Phase. Testing that was planned in the Design Phase can be performed to ensure all products are installed as intended. Ultimately, completing envelope commissioning helps avoid costly mistakes that could degrade the building envelope years down the road by catching issues before necessary components are covered and the assembly is completed.
